Today is my blog's first birthday..... happy birthday, Pebbledash!

I'm quite surprised to find myself here.....surprised I've lasted a year. I started blogging a year ago completely on impulse, having only recently discovered blogland. I found myself being inspired by other people's creativity, and if I'm honest, I was looking for anything that could distract me from the grief that was engulfing my life. And my blog has done just that, and so much more. This year has flown by, and Pebbledash has motivated me to try all sorts of things that otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered with, and certainly wouldn't have seen through to conclusion (certainly never imagined I'd be knitting!). I do have a tendency to start a project or idea firing on all cylinders... and then run out of steam. But writing and taking photos has gently nudged me to keep going. I've reacquainted myself with photography again after years of not picking up a camera, and it's a real joy. The writing I struggle with, it doesn't come so easily.

And the unexpected bonus of blogging is connecting with all of you...making friends both real and virtual, being inspired by all your ideas and inspiration, seeing the world through your eyes. Thank you. And thank you too for the lovely comments you leave - I really appreciate each and every one. I am so glad I started Pebbledash, it has enriched my life in more ways than I could ever imagine.

I'm going to host a wee giveaway here...though I have to confess I haven't actually made anything yet. So if you're up for a potential mystery gift, leave me a comment and I'll draw a name at random on sunday evening (9 november).

Now for something else....I was doodling last night with my knitting needles and some mohair-type yarn which I picked up from the charity shop for 5p. I wanted to knit some flowers to use as potential corsages and this is what evolved.

I'm really not sure about these...not even sure if they're my kind of thing. But I can't see the wood for the trees, so please share your thoughts, whatever they may be. I'd appreciate it.
(edited to add: the corsages are little...the smaller one is 3.5cm across, and the larger one is 4cm and both have a brooch bar on the back)

And here's to my second year of blogging - I'm definitely carrying on!

Congratulations on your first anniversay Diana! I wouldn't have guessed that you struggled with the writing, and your pics are always amazing :0)

Pretty corsages, but from the pic we can't see the size....what are you going to fix then with?

Happy Bloggiversary!

One year is really impressive. I've waivered several times and wonder if I'll make it that far.

The little corsages look lovely - almost like little pots or nests. Gorgeous little vessels holding special tiny treasures...

Happy Blog Birthday Diana. I enjoy your blog very much. It is a place where I can escape to when I am looking for calm and tranquility. Your little woolly brooches remind me of something from the sea. A sea urchin on its back perhaps or a fantasy sea creature! They are really pretty.

Hello Diana

I love your blog which I only discovered recently. Its so nice to discover people who enjoy the same things, make and do and appreciate the simple pleasures in life that come our way. Love all your blues and the corsages are lovely with those tiny beads in the centre. Karen.

Isn't that the truth! My blog experience is similar - just shy of one year myself. Congrats! I love the little flowers. Sew them to the cuff of a hat or mittens. Or attach them to a pin to add or remove from a sweater or jacket. Yes! To the giveaway. I'm considering giving one a try myself. How fun. -Sandy

Happy Birthday (sort of!) I'm very glad I've found your little corner of blogland.

I like your corsages very much - I think they would be lovely on a hat - especially now you've said what size they are. I'm thinking a little flapper/cloche style hat would suit them ...

Hi Diana, I love the little flowers how did you make them??? I would make three at a time in different sizes and group them on the corner of bags or bottom hand corner of jumpers they are lovely.
Happy Blog anniversary. I started for similar reasons and I find it a Godsend/tonic - people should do blogs as therapy!

ps I forgot to say how much I like your blog the lovely posts and fab pictures I always look forward to a new post.

Congratulations on your first year of blogging. I thought you had been doing it much longer, because you sound and look like a pro.

The corsages are very nice. Have you thought about making a grouping of two or three of them together. That's something I would wear. I wonder if you could make them as faux buttons on a garment like a sweater. And that just reminds ma of a job I have to do.

Anyway, good for you for blogging for a year. You keep going, you're lotss of fun to read.

I am so glad to have found you - through your writing and photography I feel as though I have a tiny toe hold in Penzance. Good luck for the next year.

Happy blog birthday! I so much look forward to your posts and am so glad you'll be keeping it up. And most of all I'm so glad to have had the opportunity to actually meet you and share adventures!

No one would ever guess you struggle with the writing, as you're so adept at finding just the right words (just as you are in person).

And I love the little corsages. To be honest yours appeal to me much more than the rather showy ones I've seen in books and at workshops. I love the elegant simplicity of the design (and of course the color). K x

Now it's your turn! Congratulations! (You and your knitting sound like me and my quilting. I never would have started if it wasn't for the blogging.)

Hello Diana. I really love those flowers and would group them on a hat which you could knit for me as a good friend!!! Seriously, they are lovely and could be used for a number of things. I would never have known you struggle with the writing either as it flows so well when I read it. Glad you will keep going. xxx

happy anniversary Diana, looking forward to another year of your lovely posts and photos.
the little flowers are so cute, and I like everyones idea of grouping them together, but you could also layer them, put one little one inside a bigger one to make layers of "petals".

Ah, what a lovely blog I have found, and in my ancestral county no less. I've been loving your posts Diana, and have read through a few of your older ones too. Love the content, the crafts and the photography, congrats on the anniversary too.

Happy Birthday! Your blog and your photography and your writing is all wonderful, and so are those little corsages, though not my thing either, the little one is particuarly sweet. I'm thinking delicate beady 'petals', but I can't explain properly .. a few sparkly beads strung onto an almost transparent wire so they look like they are floating around the centre ..? x
