The scent of christmas

Orange, clove, cinnamon, pine, may chang, bergamot....

Christmas is as much about scent for me as it is about visual decoration (and many other things). The oil burner is flickering whenever I'm home, warm spicy scent wafting through the house, memories of christmas past...and setting the memory for this christmas, too.

Great idea Diana. Wii get ours burning too. You are so right about the smell of Christmas; all the senses are involved aren't they? Will email you tomorrow about Thurs - fingers crossed can make it! xx

So is our oilburner. At the moment we're smelling orange and cinnamon leaf. It's wonderfully christmassy and works wonders against Mister V.'s cigarette smoke.

Oranges always remind me of Christmas...there also used to be a lovley bubble bath that only came out at Christmas by 'cosmetics to go' in the '80's...I used to love it...what a shame they don't make it any more...have a lovely week...H

I'm so dense. I didn't even think about the scent of Christmas and how to get it. I must rush to the store and get me some scented oil. Why didn't I think of that?

I love to have scented candles but they make hubby and daughter sneeze so I can't have them :o(

Such a beautiful photo.
Smells are so evocative.
Is that a fragrance you mix yourself?

Ooh I can smell Christmas through the ether......

I love the smell of cloves as well, they remind me of my Nan making mince pies when I was little.

You're so right. Christmas--and Thanksgiving for me--are so tied to certain lovely spicy scents. And candles as well. I guess it's the need for a bit of warmth in this icy weather! K x

That's a lovely picture of your burner - so cosy-looking somehow - and you've filled my nose with those festive scents by just writing about them. Lovely!
