design classics

Did you catch these stamps? Ten stamps depicting British design classics. I love them - especially the routemaster bus.

I am known in my little neighbourhood post office for always asking for 'stamps with pictures' - well, they brighten up the mail don't you think?

Hi Diana,
i like the stamps .. i love the old red buses too and when i lived in London always prefered to take the bus not the tube hence i knew lots of numbers and routes. Hope you are no longer going round and round and that things have settled down.
wishing you a lovely week,
with love
Ginny xx

I've been badgering my post office for them, but they're still running with the Xmas ones. And who wants those this time of year!

Yes I love them too.
I have bought some to stick on a postcard and display. The spitfire one especially, as the designer lived in a road just round the corner from where we live now and spitfires were made just down the road too, a bit of natioanl and local history.

What a good idea to ask for stamps with pictures. I must try that myself. Do you think they'll give me funny looks?

Hi Diana
Love those stamps I havnt seen them yet. I am so in touch with you on your previous posts! As usual I left the tax returns till the last minute and I do both mine and my husbands, eek. With having to do it online for the first time I did not realise you need a pin number so ours have been late this year, they did extend the deadline till the 10th Feb, so I hope I wont get a fine! Again I have been just like you round and round and not really inspired to complete anything it was like doing the accounts and returns drained all the creativity out of me!!!** I have jumped back on today and actually done something yipee. Wasnt it lovely to have some snow last week, I think we wont see any more, I enjoyed your journey home and your pics of your doggie enjoying the snow. Jane xx

Hello from New York,

I am visiting you via the wonderfule Pipany's site.

I am another fan of great stamps. Every time I get over to the UK I always pick up a bunch to see how the government is still supporting excellent graphic design.

Over here, I try to find good "commemorative" stamps, but often the selection is rather disma.

Still remember the Gee's Corner quilt stamps, and now we have some pretty exotic fruits decorating our stamps for postcards.

Oh, there was recently a very jazzy design based on the theme of Latin Jazz, and the 42 cent denomination was cleverly incorporated into the jaggedy, angled, yet graceful composition of that stamp's look.

Our Christmas, aka "holiday" stamps are not even on the same runway as yours.

Cheers!
