It's Earth Hour tonight - time to switch off and get out the candles.

Please join in.

I appreciate the token effort, but I do my share every day by using nothing but energy saving light bulbs all over the apartment all the time. I think people need to be educated in what savings can be achieved through them. I hear people say that they don't like the sort of light they cast and they keep using regular light bulbs, which is really a shame and then that one hour in the dark isn't going to make much difference.

I think I can manage one hour of scented candlelight!

We're certainly going to do this - thanks for letting us know - Lucy Locket posted about it too. Candles at the ready....

I found out about this about 2 months ago and have since then "recruited" all my family and friends. Last night everyone switched their lights off (I was out of town, so didn't use any kind of electricity yay!).

I am happy I was able to contribute a little, even though I don't leave lights on in rooms where I'm not doing anything at that moment, use public transport, avoid elevators and recycle. If more people become aware of this growing problem I think we will have a chance at saving our Earth.

We did it as well and had great fun. Just candels and doing word games on the sofa.

Hello Diana
I felt especially bad about this as I was making a huge footprint at that particulat time, flying in a jumbo jet. I did use public transport to get from Heathrow to Cornwall. We have been reducing our overall energy use over the last year. Now our bills are done by more than a third even with the price rises, but lots of room for improvement.
