habit

It's been a while....

Seems I've got out of the blogging habit. And you know what it's like with habits - once they slip, it seems like a monumental effort to get back on track. Even if it's something you enjoy doing. So, hello and goodbye October, you've flown by while I've been extraordinarily busy in real time. And I'm finding I've not quite adjusted to the shorter days yet, much as I look forward to this time of year. My time feels pressured, yet we get the same amount day in, day out, year in, year out. You'd think I'd be used to it by now. Is it just me, or does time really seem to fly as the years go by?

I've been enjoying the autumn light and long golden shadows cast on sunny afternoons. Enjoying shadows and silhouettes that look like papercuts.

I've found my knitting mojo again and have finally completed that second sock. Yes, I know it's taken months, but Pipany finished hers, so that upped the ante. And now I can't wait to knit some more.

I've been thinking that it's time to work on a christmas card design. Maybe another papercut, like last year.

And I have itchy fingers...I can feel a session with my scalpel and cutting mat coming on. Christmas gift tags anyone? It would be a start.

Ps. Thank you so much for Walter's birthday wishes. That boy is spoiled rotten.

He's also reminded me lately of his winter habit - when I get up in the morning and throw back the duvet, he waits until I've left the room, then leaps onto my bed, steals my hot waterbottle (it has an enticing furry cover) and sneaks downstairs with it. He likes to use it as a pillow. Makes a great perch to rest your chin on. Perhaps he's hankering for a water bed?

Diana, I know just what you mean...the days fly by and I always feel so tired...where did last week go and why did it make so much washing...mind you knitting takes us a great deal of my time I have to admit and of course the S work (school)

I miss it when you are not blogging Diana but I am sure I wouldn't blog so much if I lived in a beautiful part of the world as you do. I just revisited your Christmas card from last year post and think you should get out the Gocco!!! I am chuckling to myself picturing Walter stealing your hot water bottle and making off with it! He is such a funny and loveable boy. x

Yep, at times the days seem to be on fast forward.
Enjoy your crafting time, I'm sure inspiration will strike for another lovely card.

Walter is just gorgeous. I came to visit from Peasoup, because I laughed hysterically at the story of William. Thank you for sharing that, & giving many of such a great laugh!

I'm struggling a little with the blogging habit too, but I want to get back on the wagon - life seems a little flatter without it somehow.

And I got your beautiful Christmas notebook out to begin using it just the other day! I've been waiting so patiently since last year to begin.

Oh I've missed you too dear Diana. When can we meet up? davey says he would like you to come round for lunch one weekend because you make him laugh! That's a compliment, honestly! And I want a knit and chat session, so we could combine the two (while Dave makes us cups of coffee of course), meet up twice - one mid-week/ one weekend - or just meet for a coffee if time is too pressing? you choose, but can't wait. Well done on the socks. It feels like the most humoungous (sp?) achievement doesn't it? Love to Walter xx

What a beautiful photograph.

There's nothing wrong with being too busy to blog. Real life always comes first, and I think this time of year always seems a bit overwhelming, with so much to fit into the shorter days.

And congratulations on finishing the socks!

Good to see you again Diana! I agree, time does seem to fly by with the years, but its good to know you've been busy and getting creative again! Several friends have been recipients of the lovely cards I won in your giveaway and love them, so I look forward to seeing your new Christmas card design? Oh, and I can't say it often enough, Walter is a DARLING!

Your posts always have a wonderful relaxing effect upon me, as I read what you have written, its like breathing out very slowly...you have a lovely way with words. Your photograph of the sillhouettes is great, I really like the idea for making cards like that!

Welcome back Diana. I have missed you too and am also struggling to keep up with all the things I want to do. How on earth I fitted in studying last year too I'll never know!

Ahh, bless! Probably it's warm but also has your scent on it. Love the idea of him keeping his chin warm on it!!

I am glad you have finished your sock in time for the chilly days of winter! I remember once reading that if you don't cast on the second sock immediately you have finished the first it will always remain a sngleton!
