help for haiti

I know I'm not the only one who's thoughts keep drifting to Haiti, and the scenes of devastation in that tiny impoverished country.

What can we all do to help?

Please donate to Shelterbox - every penny, every pound, will help make a difference.

Shelterbox is a cornish-based charity who respond instantly to natural and man-made disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.

Find out more about the boxes here, and donate here.

Each Shelterbox costs on average £490. I would love to think that via my tiny blog we could raise enough money to pay for one shelterbox. Please consider helping.

Thank you for these links Diana. Shelterbox do a grand job. I sponsor a child in Togo through PLAN and an email hit my in-box almost immediately the disaster struck. Donation sent. It's difficult to know what to do in these circumstances, we send our money but being there on the ground is what really counts. I saw on the TV this evening that aid was being held up at the airport because of red tape - all these firemen with sniffer dogs eager to help stuck waiting - tragic for the people who need help in the first 24/48 hours.

This is one of my favourite charities - they aim to provide good quality supplies that will last beyond the immediate emergency period.

Funnily enough, before I saw this I put a link at the top of my blog last night - I think they are a really wonderful, practical organization - I am sure that blogging about it can make a difference.
