the beauty of purple kale

Beauty at the green grocers. I couldn't resist getting my camera out when I got home - the underside of this head of kale was particularly beautiful. Almost too good to eat.
It's blowing a real gale here today. I like wind, I find it quite exhilarating (so long as there's no chill factor). Out walking this afternoon I rescued a little lamb tangled up in wire. His bleats were so loud I could not ignore him. He was desperate to get back to his mum. She was also caught up - and once free, it was clear she'd injured her leg, possibly broken it. I made some calls when I got home to try and locate the farmer they belong to. I don't know what the outcome will be, but at least ewe and lamb are together, and the little one won't go hungry.

Well done for saving the lamb and the sheep, I can't wait for the lambs up our end of the country to come. The kale is gorgeous and I hoep it tasted as good as it looks

Isn't nature wonderful and it is often the simplest things which have such beauty - think of a red cabbage cut in half! Lucky you came along for that little lamb - hope the mother will survive.

Poor sheep....I guess it will be curtains for her if her leg is broken...you were very good to intervene.
The kale is such a beautiful colour.
How great to have a well stocked greengrocers.

Poor sheep. I used to be friends with a sheep farmer who said he was convinced sheep are born with a deathwish.

Beautiful photos - they should be framed! Good for you for saving the lamb; I hope its mum will be OK too.

Oh, you were so kind to be a rescue party for that ewe and lamb. Hoping they will recover and have many happy days.

Kale. Your photos of purple kale are beautiful, and just might tempt me to renew acquaintance with the one vegetable that I found way too fierce for me, since childhood.

How do you prepare that purple kale? Friends have urged me to try some potato/kale soup variations, but so far I am resisting. xo

Glorious purple Kale, the photographs are wonderful. I love a windswept walk too, the dogs get very skittish and it is somehow infectious. Very glad you managed some sheep rescue.

To find the mother and lamb in that situation must have been very distressing for you. You have done your very best for a good outcome. The colour of the kale is amazing, and great photography. x
