Each year an army of helpers and seamstresses gather together to create new and vibrant flags to brighten up the town for our two-week Golowan festival. With luck, the ones on the prom remain all summer. I love the blast of colour, especially on a grey day.

golowan flags
Remember last year's golowan flags decorating the prom? This year's flags are still flapping in the wind, brightening up the seafront.

That was nice to see all the way from spain. I do hope the sunshine comes back for you all soon - I am beginning to feel a bit guilty! My main worry is how to arrange my days to avoid getting too hot and bothered outdoors. K xx
Like the ice cream one, that's summer on a flag for me!

Artificial sunshine!
They're absolutely gorgeous. I think we could use some of those on the allotment! K x
They are lovely. I have never seen anyone in Jubilee Pool - It always looks freezing!! I always have a look at www.cornwallcam.co.uk (everyday!!) Charles Winpenney who takes the photos works in Penzance.
Those flags are certainly brightening up that grey sky.
I hope some nice warm sunshine comes back soon.

Lovely bright colours against the grey sky. They really do lift the spirits! x
Beautiful! I love how they still shine against the gloomy grey sky background!
Those flags are so cheery - what delicious colours and summery designs. Wonderful x

Hee Hee - we walk past those most evenings... we saw a lone man swimming in Jubilee Pool last Saturday morning! It still looked freezing.
