My sister's garden

My sister G has a beautiful garden, crammed with cottage garden plants, rusty iron work, and places to sit and linger. Just a few images from when I was visiting last week...

Towards the end of last year my nephew hatched some fertilized bantam eggs. He was hoping for a rooster and a hen. The chicks successfully hatched and were named Spartacus and Cupcake....except we now find they're two roosters! The names have stuck regardless, and so far these two are best buddies. Whether this continues once some hens are introduced remains to be seen. Most of my chicken pics were awful, so this is all you get...

I include these out-of-focus ruffled feathers for no other reason than they made me smile!

And here we are at 'mid-summer'. How did we get here so quickly? The rains came down today, relentlessly. I leave you with a view of foxgloves through my car windscreen.

And a very happy solstice to you all x

Oh and a very happy solstice to you too Diana! Your pictures are just stunning. I have to rummage through about a hundred to find even one that isn't out of focus or plain bad. Your cockerel is gorgeous (and I am SO not a chicken person) and even the raindrops are gloriously artistic (mine just smear and depress). Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Just stumbled across your lovely blog. I was just thinking the same thing myself about where we are in the calendar. Tempus fugit, as the saying goes. Fab photographs, by the way.

happy solstice to you too Diana and I so agree with Jane (above); your pics are just gorgeous. Oh what a wet solstice it is - Dave and I are quaffing (love that word) elderflower champers but it is tipping it down outside.

My posts have trebled lately, but not sure it will last. I seem to have a phase of doing them every couple of days and then down to once a week. Seems to be the weather that makes the difference - wet means I sit on the computer when I should be working!!! xx

Hope you had a good Solstice. We were at a wedding reception complete with a fire spinning, trance dancing woman! She was amazing and we all (kids included) stayed till midnight.
