five :: christmas pinecones

It's no secret that I love pinecones, and what better excuse than Christmas to pile them up in all their glory?

This old enamel dish is nearly two foot across, and is now gracing the little table in my conservatory. Mostly these are the larger cones I've collected this year, along with a few I've painted.

It's been a busy weekend....Idlewood is so nearly finished, which means many hours have been spent knitting these last two days. And yes, all those little circles will become a tree. I'm playing around with the base, so it will be a little while before it's finished.

What are you making and creating?

I'm making lists - in my head. They mostly start : Christmas Presents and then they go blank.....

I just can't get into the swing of it this year.

Looking forward to seeing Idlewood.
I'm putting up the Christmas decorations, but not feeling the festive spirit just yet - it's come along so quickly!

I love the contrast of the few painted white cones against the natural ones. x

Oh, pretty pinecones.

We made some into robins yesterday which was fun but not quite the same aesthetic!s

I have a cardigan in Rowan wool to sew up and I am knitting a scarf in Rowan kid silk haze for my Mum for Christmas. I also have some curtains I want to make for the dining room!

I love those painted pine cones! I think I want some - they'll be just the thing for my Nordic-chic interior! (That's the new scheme for the living room that is in my head and in the tins of paint sitting in the corner or the room!)

PS I'm enjoying the Advent Blog - it's stitching the days together.
